A Strong Fairgrounds Provides
for a strong community
Lake County Fairgrounds is a self-funded state institution run by the 49th District Agriculture Association under law. What does that mean? That means the grounds operates under a business model that must not only fund the daily operation of the grounds, but the maintenance and its staff.
Lake County Fair has taken some political heat over the last couple of years for standardizing the contract requirements, Request for Proposals (RFP) and bidding processes in order to comply with the state audit procedures. Contractors, or event vendors who may have contracted with us in the past must now be in compliance with things like utilizing Purchase of Service systems for audit documentation and providing California Fair Service Authority Liability Waivers for those participating in hazardous events. Per the state contracting manual and our compliance audit, we must provide an equitable base for contracts and agreements in order to protect this community asset you know as your Lake County Fairgrounds. Due to compliance on these types of state procedures, you may see more RFPs or letters of intent for projects and agreements.
